Vamos a Guadalajara
Vamos a Guadalajara,
vamos a nuestro ranchito,
para ver los animales,
y echarnos un taquito.
Mueve ese huevito,
hacia abajo y para arriba,
mueve ese huevito,
como una culebra viva.
Muévelo lentamente,
muévelo al compás,
muévelo muy rápido,
hasta que ya no puedas más!
This is our version of the classic “We’re Going to Kentucky.” It’s sung to the same melody and has slightly different actions, but it throws in some cultural education as well as the tried-and-true stop at the end. If you happen to work in a community not primarily made up of Mexicans, feel free to switch up the city you’re visiting and replace some of the verses to match that country or culture. As long as verses two and four end in “ito,” they’ll rhyme!
