Hicklety-Picklety Bumblebee

Hicklety picklety bumblebee,
will you say your name for me?
Say it! Whisper it! Sing it!
We’re so glad you’re here,
yeah we’re so glad you’re here!

Pan de ajonjolí

Mantequilla con pan de ajonjolí,
¿Dirás tu nombre para mí?
Dílo. Susúrralo. Cántalo.
¡Feliz que estés aquí,
feliz que estés aquí!

This is a hello song for storytime that’s great for getting to know your crowd. If you have a smaller storytime it’s nice to greet everyone in chorus, and if you have a larger storytime (like we do) we usually only sing 2-3 rounds in English followed by 2-3 rounds in Spanish and rotate through the kids. We found this song on Stephanie Leavell’s great website, Music for Kiddos, and loved it so much that we had to translate it with some help from our friend Sobeira over at Sabio Learning. Hicklety-picklety bumblebee was incredibly difficult to translate so we decided to change it to “Mantequilla con pan de ajonjolí,” to reference something well-known in our culture.
