Cinco ratoncitos - Five Little Mice
Five Little Mice
Five little mice,
with tails of gray,
wiggle their ears,
and their noses just this way!
One, two, three, four, five,
they run back to their house!
Here comes the cat,
she wants to eat a mouse!
Cinco ratoncitos
Cinco ratoncitos,
de colita gris,
mueven las orejas,
mueven la nariz.
Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco,
¡corren al rincón!
Porque viene el gato,
a comer ratón.
translation by Sheridan Cazarez.
This is a traditional rhyme in Spanish that is sometimes used for choosing, kind of like Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe. The counter counts down and whoever they choose when they land on “ratón” is out. We use it as a fingerplay or as a flannel story, and translated it so we could present it in English as well.
