Down by the Bay - De la bahía

Down By The Bay

Down by the bay,
where the watermelons grow,
back to my home,
I dare not go.
For if I do,
my mother will say…

Have you ever seen a bear chasing a hare?
Have you ever seen a goose kissing a moose?
Have you ever seen a whale with a polka-dot tail?

De la bahía

De la bahía,
donde crece la sandía,
yo a mi casa,
no regresaría,
porque si lo haría,
mi madre diría…

¿Haz visto a un caimán oliendo un tulipán?
¿Haz visto a un gato nadando como un pato?
¿Haz visto a un ballena bailando la macarena?

A Raffi classic translated and that leans heavily on the conditional tense to create a rhyming structure in Spanish. Although for the final questions we had to change the animals, the silliness of the questions remains intact.

translation by Sheridan Cazarez.
